We believe good home care starts with understanding the person, not just the care they need.

Modern Angels is a nurse-led Ontario healthcare organization founded by Girlie Hart, a healthcare professional with more than 27 years of experience.

We take the time to understand your needs, routines, preferences and what matters most to you and your family. We then help create a care plan that fits your life and find the right caregiver to support you.

Whether you need a few hours of help each week or more comprehensive care, you can expect compassionate support, clear communication and a personal approach.

Finding the right caregiver is about more than finding someone who is available.

We consider the type of care required as well as the person receiving it. Depending on the situation, we may look at experience, skills, personality, communication style, schedule, cultural preferences and other factors that are important to the client and family.

A caregiver can become a trusted and familiar part of someone’s life, so the relationship matters.

Our goal is to find someone who is capable of providing the required care and is also a good fit for the person receiving it.

Please tell us.

Sometimes a caregiver can be experienced and qualified but still not be the right personal fit for a particular client.

You should feel comfortable with the person providing care in your home. If something isn’t working, we’ll listen to your concerns and work with you to find a more suitable arrangement where possible.

We provide a wide range of home and healthcare services, including:

  • Senior and aging-at-home care
  • Personal support
  • Companion care
  • Respite care
  • Skilled nursing
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s care
  • Post-surgical care
  • Hospital-to-home support
  • Rehabilitation support
  • Motor vehicle accident recovery
  • Traumatic brain and spinal cord injury support
  • Workplace injury and WSIB-related care
  • Chronic health support
  • Palliative and hospice care
  • Specialized and complex care

If you’re not sure which service you need, that’s okay. Tell us what’s happening, and we’ll help you understand your options.

For many people, staying at home means staying close to the people, routines and memories they know and love.

Our role is to provide support where it’s needed while helping the person remain as independent as possible.

Depending on their needs, care may include help with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, meals, companionship, appointments, safety and nursing care.

Dementia care requires patience, consistency and an understanding of the person behind the diagnosis.

We take the time to learn about the individual’s history, routines, personality, communication style and preferences. Familiarity and consistency can be especially important, which is why caregiver matching and continuity are an important part of our approach.

We also understand that dementia affects the whole family.

Coming home from hospital is often when families realize that recovery still requires support.

Depending on the individual’s needs, we can help with personal care, mobility, nursing support, daily routines, medication-related assistance, rehabilitation support, appointments and companionship.

We also support people recovering from accidents, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and workplace injuries.

If possible, contact us before discharge so we can discuss the care needed at home and help you plan ahead.

Yes.

Modern Angels provides caregiver services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, depending on the client’s needs, location, service requirements and caregiver availability.

Care can be arranged for:

  • Daytime support
  • Overnight care
  • Extended hours
  • Around-the-clock care

We’ll talk with you about your situation and help determine an arrangement that fits your needs.

It depends on the type of care you need, where you live, the schedule, the level of care and caregiver availability.

We understand that some families need help quickly, particularly after a hospital stay, surgery, injury or sudden change in a loved one’s condition.

If you need care urgently, let us know when you contact us. We’ll discuss your needs and the options currently available.

Home care costs vary because every client and every care situation is different.

The cost may depend on the type of service, number of hours, frequency of care, level of care, professional qualifications required, schedule and location.

We first take the time to understand your situation and then explain the care options and costs that apply to you.

Caring for someone you love can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting.

Respite care gives family caregivers time to rest, work, attend appointments, take care of their own health, spend time with family or simply take a break.

Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re giving up your role as a caregiver.

We provide care across Ontario, serving clients in major cities, surrounding communities and smaller towns throughout the province.

Service availability depends on your location and the type of care required.

Don’t see your community listed? Contact us. We will provide care in your area.

You don’t need to know exactly what kind of care you need before you contact us.

Maybe you need some help managing at home. Maybe your mother is having more difficulty managing on her own. Maybe your father is becoming forgetful. Maybe someone is coming home from hospital, recovering from surgery or an injury, or your family caregiver is feeling exhausted.

Whatever the situation, start by telling us what’s happening.

We’ll listen, ask questions, explain your options and help you understand what type of support may be appropriate.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you contact us.

Tell us what’s happening, what support you need, or what concerns you have about yourself or someone you love. We’ll listen and help you understand your options.
